Private Medical Insurance
Pays for consultations, tests and operations in a private room without the need for waiting. You can choose which consultant, where you wish to be treated and most importantly treatment can be carried out within days. Plans are sold on a 12 month contract and can be paid monthly, quarterly or annually, usually by direct debit, credit card or cheque. You can reduce the premiums by having an excess which means you pay the first £100 or more of any claim. Cover can be for Single, Single Parent, Married or Couples and Family. Premiums will increase every year in line with medical inflation and with age at varying intervals

Critical Illness
Pays a tax free lump sum of e.g. £25,000 14 days after any one of up to 24 conditions have been diagnosed, such as Cancer, Heart Attack, Stroke & Organ Failure. The money can be used however you like, to pay off any mortgage or debts, to pay for home help, adaptations to your vehicle, modifications to your home, or simply go on a 'round the world' holiday. In fact whatever you desire.

Income Protection
Particularly important for the self employed. State incapacity benefit in the UK is only £60.20 per week. Income Protection will pay you a wage of up to 65% of your gross income if you are unable to work due to accident or sickness. Premiums are calculated on your occupation classification and how soon you want benefits to pay out. Benefits stop when you are medically fit to return to work or continue indexed linked until your retirement age.

Long Term Care
Anyone with assets of over £16,000 in the UK (i.e. property) will not receive any state help to pay for home nursing or nursing home care. The cost will have to be paid out of savings and/or most likely the sale of the person's home. Over 40,000 homes are sold every year in the UK to pay for nursing home fees, which average £300 per week. To prevent the sale of property which was intended to be passed on to children, and to retain dignity and independence, Long Term Care provides for the payment in whole or partial for home nursing fees without the need to sell property.
